Mike Martinez and Brad Pittman, Partners of Edge Resources, L.L.C, bring a wealth of oil & gas experience in the Barnett Shale and other north American oil & gas plays.  Lee Matthews, Cornerstone Engineering, is a Joint Venture Partner with Edge and is responsible for drilling & completion of all Edge Resources' wells.  The following are biographies of our Partners and our Executive Team members.

Brad Pittman, a founding partner of Edge Resources, has 25 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Initially employed at American Quasar Petroleum for 6 years, Brad was part of a securities team that raised in excess of $300 million for exploration in the United States and Canada.  Later, while at Clements Energy, an Oklahoma City based oil and gas exploration company, Brad held the title of National Marketing Director until the company was sold to Nerco, a Portland, Oregon-based coal company.  Brad also was co-founder of Alamosa Oil and Gas, a Ft Worth based oil and gas exploration and development company that conducted operations in north Texas and Mississippi, prior to forming Edge Resources L.L.C.

Brad holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from the University of Mississippi.

Mike Martinez, a founding partner of Edge Resources, has extensive leasing experience in the Barnett Shale. With 7 years experience in this relatively new gas play, Mike has negotiated more that 2,000 leases accounting for more than 25,000 acres in the multi-county Barnett shale field.  Additionally, Mike has had a participating interest in the drilling and completion of more than 50 Barnett wells to date.  Mike was an instrumental part of the success in the accumulation of leasehold inventory while at Four Sevens Oil Company.  The sale of these properties were in excess of $1 billion.  Mike has also consulted with XTO, Finley Resources, mineral owners, and oil & gas attorneys, among others.

Mike, a Ft Worth native, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.

Lee Matthews (Cornerstone Engineering) is a joint venture partner with Edge Resources.  While a member of the Mitchell Energy team that pioneered the development of horizontal drilling methods in the Barnett Shale, Lee's vastly successful experience in the Barnett play certainly is noteworthy.  And it is directly because of these technological advancements that has propelled the Barnett gas play into the top producing gas field in the United States.  When with Devon/Mitchell, Lee was a team member in the drilling and completion of in excess of 500 wells in the Barnett Shale.  In the four years since Lee formed Cornerstone Engineering, he has drilled and completed more than 120 horizontal wells in the Barnett Shale.  With more than 20 years of petroleum engineering experience, most of which is in this specific rock formation, Lee easily is recognized as one of the top engineers in the Barnett Shale play. 


Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Tim Martinez has more than 5 years of leasing experience specifically in the Barnett Shale.  He has negotiated more than 1,000 leases accounting for more than 20,000 acres in the multi-county Barnett shale field.  Additionally, Tim has had a participating interest in the drilling and completion of more than 20 Barnett wells to date.  Tim played a key role in accumulating leasehold inventory at Four Sevens Oil Company, properties that eventually sold for in excess of $1 billion.  After leaving Four Sevens, Tim joined David H. Arrington Oil & Gas, Incorporated, where he was also responsible for acquiring mineral leases in the Barnett Shale.

David’s engineering training, residential development & construction background, and past employment experience with Geographic Information Systems in municipal environments affords Edge Resources LLC with immediate, precise, real-time mapping for the decision-making necessary to stay competitive in the fast-paced, ever-changing urban scenes of the Barnett Shale play.

David, a native of Aledo, Parker County, Texas, has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University and holds a Texas Engineer In Training Certificate (#37231).

Chris Smith has 2 years of land experience, including both mineral leasing and running title, specifically in the Barnett Shale field.  He also has more than 5 years of experience selling Business Process Improvement and Technology solutions to Human Resources departments from the largest United States-based oil & gas companies, such as Exxon Mobil, Anadarko Petroleum, XTO, EOG Resources, Chevron, Halliburton, and KBR to name just a few.  Prior to joining Edge Resources, Chris' land experience includes working for clients Four Sevens Energy Company and Chesapeake Oil & Gas, where he leased subdivisions and more sizeable tracts of land as well.

Chris, a Fort Worth native and lifelong resident, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Communications from Texas Wesleyan University.  He also has completed 36 graduate hours in the Humanities with an emphasis on American Literature and Philosophy.
